Kenya Connection - You Are Invited

 Dear Friends,

We are planning the 7th mission trip to Meru, Kenya. I invite you to join me in working with several churches in Meru, Kenya. You will work with many Christians doing the best they can with very little money. We give many people hope and an opportunity to help themselves. The mission trip will be an experience of a lifetime and ending with a delightful Safari. You will fall in love with the people and it will change us all.

“God is the source of all the positive energy we will need for our mission.”

Trip Itinerary for July 11-27,  2012

Day 1: We will leave the U.S. from any area. Jan will leave from Omaha and will help with all the reservations so we connect before our arrival in Nairobi, Kenya.
Day 2: Arrive in Nairobi, Kenya in the early evening and claim our luggage. Our transportation will be waiting for us when we arrive. Before traveling to Meru we will go to the United Methodist guest house in Nairobi, Kenya for a much needed overnight.
Day 3: Exchange currency (Dollars for Shillings), purchase supplies, load the van, and depart for Meru. Our luggage will be waiting for us in Meru and some Christian partners will be there to welcome us. We will check into the Methodist guest house.
Day 4-11:

During our mission time we will hold a clinic for 3-5 working days, visit community gardens, and lay plans for new gardens. We will visit Talipia Ponds and develop plans for new ponds that will be functioning before we leave. We will visit Aids patients, disabled groups, and women’s groups. If our fund raising efforts are successful, we will distribute goats, chickens, fruit trees, vegetable seeds, and give gifts of money to the people of Meru. We will organize 4 or 5 women’s groups and get them started. The goat buyer will go to the auction and goats will be ready to distribute while we are still in Meru. If time permits, we will deliver supplies to the Maua Methodist Hospital. The Meru Schools are so excited when we visit. We bring them soccer balls and frisbies and often give a pep talk about the importance of staying in school and getting an education. It is very exciting to do a variety of activities, however we want to utilize your strengths to the best of our abilities.
